FAQ
-
What will our first session be like?I'll take you through a full body assessment that will help me to create a plan of action to address areas of concern through strength training or joint mobilization.
-
What is a typical workout?Depending on your needs, we may start with joint mobilization/stretching then onto a warm-up and then the workout itself followed by core coordination exercises.
-
Do I need my own equipment? No. I have equipment I can bring plus there are many bodyweight exercises that can take the place of typical gym equipment.
-
How often should I exerciseYou can't overdo proper exercise. Remember, we exercise because our lives no longer require much, if any physical movement. As long as you're varying the mode and intensity, not stressing sore or injured areas, then exercise SHOULD be a daily event.
-
Should I do strength training, cardio or both?Strength-based workouts can result in significant health benefits such as increased muscle mass, stronger bones, boosted metabolism, better posture, balance and joint flexibility. Research shows it also can boost heart health. Regularly increasing your heart rate and blood flow by adding cardio into your routine can also promote heart and lung health, as well as improve your sleep and energy levels.
-
Do I need to warm up before my workouts?Definitely! Cold muscles and joints do not like strenuous activity.
-
What's a good warm up?Anything that elevates your core temperature, increases blood flow or makes you sweat such as walking, jogging, a sauna or in a pinch, a hot drink.
-
What is an assessment? An assessment is a periodic meeting with the trainer where your body fat is measured on certain parts of your body using a caliper. You decide which areas you want to track. Your results are kept in your record so that results can be reviewed over a period of time.
-
What is the point of an assessment?Periodic assessments establish routines and are an excellent way to hold yourself accountable. They keep people focused on their goals of losing weight or improving fitness. Additionally, if you’re doing an exercise incorrectly, it is an opportunity to fine tune your form. If you’ve hit a “sticking point,” a reassessment is helpful to keep you on the right track and avoid wasting time. The goal is to keep you on track to reach your goals and establish a healthy routine.
-
If I’m not comfortable with a particular measurement, can it be skipped?Of course
